May your spring always fling

Happy Birthday Su....
As you can see above, we haven't changed a bit. When our mothers were our current age, they were already grandparents but in my mind we will be "forever fourteen".
Hope your birthday celebrations include a trip to Abu Dhabi. Over here we are on the Islamic calendar which means you don't age as fast. I'm just 28 this year!!!

Merging onto the feeder road

Ex-pats look forward to home leave with excitement as well as fear and trepidation. We try to cram so much into our time at home that it is exhausting. Having said that, we wouldn't miss it for the world.
My itinerary...
Fly to Dubai, fly to Frankfurt, land in Houston then to Waco, Abilene, Waco, Abilene, Dallas, San Antonio, Dallas, Oklahoma, Dallas, Houston, Dallas. And that is just the first three weeks. I'm starting to feel like a human fax machine.

I will try to blog during the summer. I am always amazed at how I see things differently when I come back home. Example...have you ever noticed how many people are eating in their cars?http://www.paulalicata.com/driving_&_eating.htm Vehicular dining is a quirk unique to Americans. As much as I try not to join in, it never fails that within a week of arriving home I'm balancing a 7 layer Taco Bell Crunch Wrap, Sonic diet strawberry limeaide and/or Pepperidge Farm Goldfish in my lap while cruising down the street. Gives new meaning to the term "feeder road".
However, don't get me started on the cereal aisle at Wal-Mart....pleeease, I'm not planning on packing my soap box.
I'll be back in Abu Dhabi in August ready to get back to full time blogging.
Stay tuned for Ramadan premiering Sept 14th. There will be fasting and more fasting and then fasting some more. You don't want to miss that.
